Buenas!
Do you want to increase your Spanish vocabulary? Would you like to (finally) master Spanish verb conjugations? Are you just trying to generally improve your Spanish? If you answered “sí” to any of those questions, then bookmark this site – because you will find the solutions here.
My name is Shawn, and I started Spanish Spark to help myself with all of the above questions. As a native English speaker, it’s been a challenge to progress higher than an advanced beginner level. I struggled with a few areas, including the following:
- Not being able to distinguish clearly between words when listening to spoken Spanish
- Not knowing the meanings of many words, especially when watching TV or when interacting with real people
- Not being able to master the conjugations of many verbs (including some of the most common irregular verbs like “ser” and “ir”)
- Not being able to remember what I thought I’d already learned
I’ve practiced Spanish on and off (casually) for well over a decade, but in the last year I’ve gotten more serious about studying the Spanish language. My decision to improve my Spanish hit me when I realized I had been “playing” at learning it. I knew enough of the language to be familiar with it, but not enough to actually use and enjoy it. So I decided to actually put in some dedicated effort to imrove my Spanish knowledge and profienciency. I’ve scoured books, watched many YouTube videos, listened to many podcasts, and of course read numerous websites over the course of the last year in my effort to become better at actually listening to, comprehending, and speaking español.
This website is where I put the resources and tips I’ve found most helpful. If you’ve found this site and anything helps you, please drop me a line and let me know – I’d be grateful to hear your experiences and any advice you may have as well!
